Mission Statement

The mission of the Massachusetts Gaming Commission is to regulate the legal casino, horse racing, and sports wagering industries with integrity and transparency. Our goal is to maximize consumer protections, minimize negative impacts, and promote responsible gaming through regulation, research, and informed policy making. The Commission endeavors to create a fair and safe gaming environment in the Commonwealth while fostering economic benefits and a diverse workforce for its licensees, residents, and businesses.

Internally, the MGC works to ensure the same standards of representation and inclusion. The Commission adopted a statement of purpose addressing our own commitment to intentionally address equity, diversity and inclusion in our daily operations, including our culture, hiring, procurement, customer service, and regulatory practices. As part of the casino application process, all gaming applicants are required to set diversity hiring goals and submit strategic plans for the inclusion of minorities, women and veterans in the workforce. Applicants are also required to formulate their own specific diversity goals related to minority-, women- and veteran-owned businesses to participate as contractors in all stages of building their gaming establishments (design, construction, and operation).
