Responsibilities

TRC is seeking a Project Scientist / Industrial Hygiene Technician with 5-10 years of experience in the hazardous building materials, indoor air quality/ industrial hygiene industry to join our Woburn, MA Office. This position is part of our Building Sciences and Industrial Hygiene business line within TRC's Environmental Sector. Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform project oversite and air monitoring during asbestos and other hazardous/regulated building materials such as mold, lead, mercury, etc.
  • Perform microscopical analysis of air samples using phase contrast microscopy.
  • Conduct water intrusion/water leak investigations.
  • Perform industrial Hygiene exposure assessments.
  • Perform indoor air quality building evaluations.
  • Collect air samples as required by various regulatory agencies.
  • Prepare project chains of custody.
  • Prepare project daily logs
  • Interact with clients, contractors and regulatory agencies.
  • Provides a consultative demeanor and ability to work with customers / clients and offer solutions when needed
  • Interpret project specifications and drawings.
  • Prepare field reports.
  • Travel to various job sites, primarily in Eastern Massachusetts and occasionally other New England states.

Qualifications

Education - Qualifications:

  • Minimum of an Associate's Degree in Environmental Science or related field.
  • 5-10 years of experience in the hazardous building materials, indoor air quality/ industrial hygiene industry is required.
  • Prior experience in various aspects of abatement projects is required
  • Certification as an Asbestos Inspector and/ or Project Monitor is required
  • Must be able to read project specifications and drawings.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Adaptability and flexibility to various work schedules including days, evenings and weekends, as required.
  • Respond to emergency response scenarios.
  • Intuitive and creative thinker. Understanding of project surroundings and reasons the services are being provided. A consultative demeanor and ability to work with customers / clients and offer solutions when needed.
  • Work as a team player.
  • Ability to carry and climb ladders, and use hand and power tools.
  • Ability to wear a respirator, safety harness and other safety equipment as needed
  • Must have a valid driver's license and a reliable means of transportation.
