Overview

We are seeking a Senior Physical Security Consultant/Protective Engineer in the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, West or Southwest states, but other TRC office locations in the lower 48 states may be considered for this position. This position will require working remotely (from home) as well as periodically from a TRC office.

This Senior Security Consultant will be a trusted member of a team responsible for supporting our government and commercial sector clients in assessing, recommending, and implementing security approaches. This position will require a well-rounded physical security background and will include some level of business development and client/project management. The ability to work as part of a coordinated team is critical. This is a mid to senior level position with long term growth potential.


Responsibilities

  • Conduct security assessments and develop security standards/specifications, master plans, and similar documents sometimes in collaboration with other team members and clients
  • Have a working knowledge of structural engineering, working especially in the field of extreme environments.
  • Have a proven knowledge of structural design to mitigate against the effects of aggression by ballistic and explosive attacks.
  • Have a proven knowledge of structural design to mitigate against extreme weather events, such as hurricanes, tornadoes, and flood waters.
  • Develop security designs and prepare construction documentation, such as drawings and specifications.
  • Work with the various law enforcement agencies as required
  • Synthesize and analyze man-made threat and natural hazard data
  • Author reports, technical memos, and other deliverables
  • Develop presentations and deliver training content at client locations
  • Interact with a diverse set of clients including government agency personnel, public officials, business, and nonprofit staff
  • Travel throughout the U.S. (travel estimated at 15-25% of the year post-pandemic)

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in civil or structural engineering with professional registration, and the ability to become registered in other states as necessary
  • 10 or more years of related experience
  • Self-motivated
  • Excellent technical writing skills
  • Experience with computer-aided structural analysis and design tools that have dynamic analysis capabilities
  • Experience with computer-based tools for dynamic analysis under extreme, short-term loadings (e.g. - SBEDS, ConWep, AT-Blast, Wingard) as well as RISA, STAAD or similar.
  • Ability to work with design team that will produce drawings in electronic format (e.g. - AutoCAD) and/or the ability to generate documents in AutoCAD
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a larger team to support business objectives
  • Work closely with government emergency management, law enforcement and security agencies
  • Ability to travel periodically to meet client and project needs
  • Ability to work in commercial and industrial settings and follow strict safety protocols
  • Fluent written and verbal English communication skills
  • Ability to pass multiple detailed background checks (including criminal history) and drug screening
  • US Citizen, with current driver's license and ability to travel by air, bus, train, etc.
  • Proficiency with standard MS Office tools, laptop computers, and/or related tools
  • The ability to occasionally walk and/or stand for extended periods of time, often in outdoor environments
  • Basic business acumen and the ability to understand and support client relationships
  • Candidate must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. An inquisitive tendency, as well as the interest in protecting people and facilities from harm are also important qualities.

Desired Additional Skills:

  • Certification as a Certified Protection Professional (CPP) or Physical Security Professional (PSP) via ASIS International
  • Bi-or multi-lingual skills
  • Master's degree
  • Professional registration to perform structural engineering
  • Certifications such as CPTED, CBCP or in other related areas
  • Knowledge of BPATS, ISC and FEMA assessment methodologies
  • Knowledge of various security requirements for various sectors of critical infrastructure are valued.

In accordance with local law, the following compensation range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition: $100,000-$140,000. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors.
