Why this job matters:
Provides the reporting of financial information to management and regulatory entities such as the Department of Business Regulation (DBR) and BCBS Association that is relied upon in decision and rate making. Responsible for the reconciliation of general ledger accounts, proper application of accounting principles for GAAP and SAP and ensure readiness for auditing activity.
What you will do:
- Provide expert technical, business and analytical support in the preparation of financial reporting to internal and external parties. Provide financial analytics to support management decisions.
- Maintain accounting for assigned accounts in the Corporate General Ledger. Prepare account reconciliations and research outstanding items.
- Organize and prioritize the department's efforts to ensure that financial reports are completed accurately and timely.
- Prepare ad hoc analysis and reporting for Federal and State regulatory agencies.
- Provide backup and support to Manager in review and completion of reporting requirements.
- Keep abreast of new accounting principles, both Statutory and GAAP to ensure compliance in financial reporting.
- Assist the tax department with ad-hoc and year-end reports to support the tax return.
- Acts as business lead/subject matter expert for Finance on corporate/ departmental initiatives and projects.
- Mentor less experienced staff.
- Report to senior management on various finance initiatives.
- Perform other delegated as assigned.
What you need to succeed:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
- Seven to ten years experience in General Ledger accounting preferably within the health insurance industry.
- Experience should include financial reporting on a GAAP and SAP basis including consolidations, investment and fixed asset accounting, inter-company transactions and government reporting
- Apply GAAP and SAP accounting principles to financial transactions.
- Knowledge of Facets, Solomon General Ledger, Microsoft Office, Fixed Asset Software (FAS), Investment Software (EPS), and FSI Quarterly filing software for DBR reporting.

- In-office: onsite 5 days per week
- Hybrid: onsite 2-4 days per week
