If this sounds like an environment you would thrive in, Fuel Engineering Technology is looking for an experienced Systems Engineer to join the Network Management Services Team and perform complex Linux systems administration, hardware qualification and delivery, and provide technical leadership in design, development, training, performance, and delivery of our products and services.

Westinghouse Electric Company LLC, is looking to hire a Computer and Linux Systems Engineer for their Cranberry Woods headquarters in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Major Focus of Position:

Perform system administration of corporate Engineering Linux platforms, as well as delivery and hardware maintenance of qualified Linux platforms to contracted nuclear utility customers. This includes installation and configuration of the base operating system, participating in the design and deployment of security updates, coordination of customer site delivery and maintenance visits, and ongoing support of Linux systems in the corporate and customer environments. Expectation of working closely with engineering users to deploy applications and resolve issues.

Required Skills:

  • Possess a mindset for identifying, analyzing, and efficiently solving variety of system related problems
  • Exhibits a drive for producing work that adheres to quality standards and follows defined processes and procedures
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Effective communications skills, written and oral
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
  • Travel to customer sites up to 1-2 times per month to perform technical work

Desired Skills:

  • Programming experience, including complex shell scripting
  • Comfortable providing technical training presentations to smaller groups
  • Aptitude to work with little guidance and oversight
  • Team leadership experience
  • Highly organized and task focused
  • Motivated to self-learn and develop

Responsibilities may Include:

  • Receive training and feedback from experienced mentor, and mentor others
  • Provide troubleshooting for corporate Linux engineering environment
  • Provide remote troubleshooting of customer system issues
  • Design, integrate, modify, and maintain Linux OS releases for internal and external use
  • Perform operating system verification and validation
  • Document performed work in accordance with required engineering procedures
  • Lead or participate in receipt inspection, configuration, and shipment of customer hardware
  • Perform on-site customer hardware deliveries, OS upgrades, security updates and/or preventive maintenance including system installation, integration, and end-user and system administration training
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams including status reporting (e.g., quality, budget, schedule)
  • Developing customer proposals including technical scope descriptions, schedules and cost estimates
  • Maintaining active customer projects in SAP

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in one or more of the following disciplines:
    • Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or another related field
