Compensation: $71,700 - $107,700

Why this job matters:

Develop and service relationships for new and existing group accounts. Represent the company in the sales, service, and retention of all products in the portfolio. Attain sales objectives for assigned territory and customer accounts. Participate in the development and implementation of corporates sales strategies.

What you will do:

  • Determine customer needs and propose products that address needs. Maintain and expand enrollment in current accounts through the renewal process.
  • Manage all account enrollment, servicing, and renewal activities internally and externally. Develop strong customer relationships between organization and customer accounts. Provide accounts and brokers with information regarding products and services, acting as both educator and consultant.
  • Act as liaison between organization and customer accounts; represent the interests of a given prospect, account, or broker with any person or department in the organization.
  • Exhibit a strong sales performance record and demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of all product lines. Provide recommendations regarding product and administrative improvements to ensure best level of customer service and product offerings.
  • Lead department projects and initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What you need to succeed:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Marketing, or Finance; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Five to seven years' experience in sales or marketing activities
  • Account management experience including problem recognition and resolution
  • Valid driver's license
  • Valid Broker License and annual required credits
  • Proven ability to prospect, sell, retain, and manage complex accounts
  • Knowledge of health care issues
  • Knowledge of employee benefit packages
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services
  • Strategic and critical thinking skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong business acumen and political savvy
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively with a wide variety of people in individual and group settings
  • Strong organizing skills, with the ability to prioritize and respond to shifting deadlines
  • Strong time management skills
  • Ability to manage diverse and deadline-oriented workflow

  • Experience in the health insurance industry
  • Experience with Public Sector and Taft Hartley Trust (i.e. Labor Unions)

Location:

BCBSRI is headquartered in downtown Providence, conveniently located near the train station and bus terminal. We actively support associate well-being and work/life balance and offer the following schedules, based on role:

  • In-office: onsite 5 days per week
  • Hybrid: onsite 2-4 days per week
  • Remote: onsite 0-1 days per week. Preference given to Rhode Island residents. Permitted to reside in the following states, pending approval from the Human Resources Department: Arizona, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia
