What you'll do:

As a member of the Analytics team, the Senior Data Analyst will support core teams - product, fleet, operations, member services, revenue management, and sales - to deliver on the company's mission of enabling simple and responsible urban living. Day-to-day projects include analysis of new product features, developing metrics to measure success of fleet performance, and building standardized reports for external business partners. Using a business-focused analytics skill set, the Analyst will build relationships with stakeholders throughout the company to provide the data they need.

The ideal candidate combines technical knowledge with a customer-service approach to deliver insights from basic report building to advanced analyses. This role will have a direct and immediate impact on the growth and profitability of the company by delivering data-backed evidence to decision making.

What you'll love about being a Zipster:

  • Become a generalized expert of Zipcar's data platform: how data is generated and captured; the caveats and exceptions; and how it should be cleaned and modeled in Looker across several subject matters
  • Deep dive into the data to understand how member behavior changes as we launch new product features and assist internal teams drive efficiency by creating metrics
  • Serve as the point of contact for all Zipcar reporting, with the ability to troubleshoot bugs and build top-notch dashboards for internal and external partners
  • Design and implement tools for root cause analysis and alerting, enabling stakeholders to quickly diagnose and resolve issues
  • Evangelize data driven decision-making across the company. Attend strategy and design meetings and hold leaders accountable for testing and measurement
  • Manage multiple projects at once, prioritize backlogs, and successfully meet deadlines independently

What drives success for a Data Scientist:

  • Requirements:
    • Minimum 3 years of relevant analytics experience
    • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
    • Constantly curious with the desire to self-learn. Always asking questions and anticipating challenges.
    • First-rate analytical skills, including a critical eye for detail
    • Excellent communication skills with a customer-service oriented approach
    • Proactive, with the ability to solve problems independently
    • Advanced SQL skills
    • Experience analyzing large datasets through data extraction, cleaning, and modeling to distill insights
    • Familiarity with report building with a data visualization/BI tool (Looker strongly preferred)
    • Proven experience with a modern programming language (Python, R)
  • Nice to haves:
    • Master's degree in data science, data visualization, or another quantitative field
    • Experience working with a Redshift data warehouse and standard AWS services (EC2, S3, etc)
    • Experience with agile processes
    • Knowledge of ETL and tools such as DBT
    • Prior work with urban analytics, transportation, or cities
