Are you interested in healthcare and do you have a desire to participate in the student learning process! If so, you may want to consider the opportunity to be a simulated patient where you will work with students and educators as part of the teaching process. We are seeking a diverse population of individuals who are willing to portray patients, family members and other roles in simulation scenarios. Hours and schedules are flexible, depending on the teaching curriculum.

SUMMARY OF MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

- Portrays a participant as patient, family member or other role in simulation scenarios.

- Act as a patient for simulated history and physical examinations.

- Provide verbal and written feedback to students participating in simulated patient encounters.

- Participate in Standardized Patient Training workshops.

- Assist in training new Simulated Patients.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Studies and recalls documentation, actions, dialogue for the sake of training and assessment of healthcare-professions students

- Follows verbal and written directions provided in a training forum or scripted case

- Undergoes multiple physical exams in a simulated clinical environment

- Administers verbal and written feedback to students and faculty

Qualifications

SKILLS/ ABILITIES/ COMPETENCIES REQUIRED

- Minimal age requirement 18 years old

- Must be able to read and comprehend a written script and verbal instructions

- Must be able to memorize and improvise specific detail

- Must be flexible and reliable with scheduling and assignments

- Must have basic computer skills

- Must be willing to wear a hospital gown over light clothing during simulation sessions

  • Minor acting ability desired

TRAINING/TIME REQUIRED TO LEARN JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Each new hire must complete an orientation prior to being scheduled for and participating in an simulation activities.
