Job Description

Overview:
As a Journeyman ISSO, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the security and integrity of information systems within the DoD. Your responsibilities will include implementing and maintaining security controls, assessing risks, and collaborating with various stakeholders to safeguard sensitive data and systems for the submarine/undersea domain. You'll be part of a dynamic team dedicated to maintaining compliance with security laws, regulations, and guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

Security Compliance:

  • Implement and oversee day-to-day security practices, ensuring adherence to established security policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Collaborate with system owners, technical staff, and other security personnel to maintain security configurations.
  • Monitor and assess security controls to identify vulnerabilities and recommend corrective actions.

Risk Assessment and Mitigation:

  • Conduct risk assessments for information systems, identifying potential threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to protect against security breaches.
  • Stay informed about emerging threats and security trends.

Security Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date security documentation, including system security plans, risk assessments, and contingency plans.
  • Assist in the preparation of security authorization packages for system accreditation.

Incident Response:

  • Collaborate with incident response teams to investigate and resolve security incidents.
  • Document and report security incidents, ensuring timely communication with relevant stakeholders.

Security Awareness and Training:

  • Promote security awareness among system users and stakeholders.
  • Provide training on security best practices and policies.

Security Audits and Assessments:

  • Participate in security control assessments, vulnerability scans, and audits.
  • Address findings and ensure timely remediation.

Relationship Building:

  • Establish and maintain relationships with key personnel, including system owners, security assessors, and authorizing officials.
  • Collaborate with peers and other security professionals to share knowledge and best practices.

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is $75,000-$120,000 per year. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law. Job Requirements
  • Education:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Certifications:Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CompTIA Security+. CWF Designation or capability to meet CWF requirements.
  • Clearance:SECRET clearance or ability to achieve clearance is required.
  • Experience:
    • At least 3 years of experience in information security, risk management, or related roles.
    • Previous work on undersea systems is highly desired
    • Familiarity with NIST, FISMA, and other security frameworks.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
