What we need:
Brady Corporation is seeking a Data Science intern to join our team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work alongside our talented engineers, contributing to the development of our innovative solutions. You will be matched with a manager and a mentor who will guide you throughout your internship.

What you'll be doing

  • Design, implement, and automate deployment of our distributed system for collecting and processing log events from multiple sources.
  • Design data schema and operate internal data warehouses and SQL/NoSQL database systems.
  • Own the design, development, and maintenance of ongoing metrics, reports, analyses, and dashboards to drive key business decisions.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot operational or data issues in the data pipelines.
  • Drive architectural plans and implementation for future data storage, reporting, and analytic solutions.
  • Work collaboratively with Business Analysts, Data Scientists, and other internal partners to identify opportunities/problems.
  • Provide assistance to the team with troubleshooting, researching the root cause, and thoroughly resolving defects in the event of a problem.
  • Enhance the AI-driven aspects of our solutions, learning from and contributing to projects that utilize extensive datasets-including text, images, and multimodal data-to solve real business problems.
  • Assist in developing cutting-edge machine learning models, particularly focusing on Large Language Models (LLMs), to streamline operations using diverse data sources.
  • Participate in ensuring the accuracy and effectiveness of algorithms across varied demographics, involving statistical analysis and error assessment.
  • Help build and refine prototypes, gaining insights into transforming them into scalable, efficient code for real-world applications.
  • Contribute to the development of adaptable software and data systems, which emphasize modular components for use across various teams and projects.

What you'll need to be successful:

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
  • Availability to complete a full-time internship for a minimum of 3 months.
  • Experience with one or more query languages (e.g., SQL, PL/SQL, DDL, MDX, HiveQL, SparkSQL, Scala).
  • Experience with one or more scripting languages (e.g., Python, KornShell).
  • Experience with data mining and data warehouse solutions.
  • Experience with ETL flow and tools.
  • Basic knowledge of programming in languages like Python, Java, C/C++, etc.
  • Familiarity with core areas of computer science such as Natural Language Processing, Computer Vision, Machine Learning, or Deep Learning.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
