Your Job

As the Mechanical Test Engineer you will be responsible for evaluating mechanical test requirements that will ensure cable designs and manufacturing processes produce high speed data cables that meet or exceed customer expectations. Ensuring test plans meet the requested test specifications, developing test schedules, performing and providing oversight to the mechanical and environmental testing of high-speed data cables, and providing complete test reports.


Our Team

The Mechanical Test Engineer will join a dynamic team within Molex based in Conway, AR. This team is at the forefront of developing and executing comprehensive mechanical and environmental testing strategies for high-speed data cables. With a focus on innovation and quality, the team collaborates closely with various departments such as product development, manufacturing, and quality assurance to ensure that all products meet or exceed rigorous standards and customer expectations.


What You Will Do

  • Evaluate, plan, and drive mechanical testing to prove the quality of our data cable products. Must coordinate lab activities with multiple departments, including product development, manufacturing, signal integrity, quality, etc.
  • Perform mechanical testing of High-Speed cable assemblies. Support data analysis, identification of critical to quality aspects of product design and manufacturing process and write reports to summarize findings.
  • Work closely with multifunctional teams to determine quality and suitability of cable assembly products. Maintain records for test execution, schedule, and report.
  • Create and execute test plans, conduct requirements reviews, perform test verification and validation, analyze results and document results.
  • Create test process documentation, specifications, and work instructions.
  • Understand, support, and contribute to Molex TQM and Quality / Environmental Management Systems by following approved policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as required by management.


Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering or B.S. Degree in an equivalent discipline
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in test and measurement.
  • Working knowledge of standard mechanical test equipment.
  • Analytical ability to apply logical reasoning, test assumptions, observe results and make corrections.
  • High proficiency using analytical tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and others as required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills that demonstrate the ability to express complex technical concepts clearly and concisely with global teams.


What Will Put You Ahead

  • M.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum 2-5 years of progressive engineering experience with a strong understanding of product High Speed testing and designs.
  • Extensive experience with mechanical test and measurement equipment such as force measurement equipment, flex test equipment, etc.
  • Working knowledge of TDR modules, 4-port network analyzers, and bit error rate testers.
  • Experience using relational databases with software such as Microsoft SQL or MySQL.
  • RF/microwave circuit design and PCB layout with software such as Mentor Graphics PADS or Cadence Allegro. Exposure to advanced PCB fabrication methods.
  • Electromagnetic simulation with software such as Ansys HFSS or CST Microwave Studio.
  • Lean/six sigma yellow or green belt training. Understanding and application of control charts, process capability, gage R&R, and other lean/six sigma tools.
